Issue 026:
UNDER THE STARS
A weekend that left us feeling completely recharged.
Our latest Running Adventure Club trip to Buena Vista.
In Issue 026, we follow our athletes during a weekend of exploration. Where to? Buena Vista, Colorado. From the moment we rolled into camp, the pace of everyday life began to fall away. Tents went up, camp chairs formed a circle, and everyone settled into that mountain time where priorities shift, stresses faded and conversations flowed.
Waterfalls and Wildflowers on Browns Creek Trail
Our first big outing took us up Browns Creek Trail, where the sound of rushing water grew louder as we climbed until the waterfalls came into view, cascading through granite boulders surrounded by towering pines.
The trail offered everything we love, smooth stretches perfect for cruising, rocky sections that kept us focused, and plenty of excuses to stop for photos. Whether people were pushing the pace or enjoying a relaxed morning jog, we all found our own adventure along the way.
A Well-Earned Soak
After a day on the trails, there may not be a better reward than slipping into the naturally chilled river water of the Arkansas River.
We spent the day soaking, letting sore legs recover while chatting with locals who also were beating the heat in the river.
It's amazing how quickly a soak can turn a group of intense runners into a group of professional relaxers.
Day 2 - Mount Yale
The highlight of the weekend came with an early alpine start up Mount Yale.
The climb tested us with 4,300 feet of elevation gain and increasingly rugged terrain. Above treeline, the views opened in every direction, revealing an endless sea of peaks stretching across central Colorado. The final push to the summit required determination, encouragement, and more than a few snack breaks, but standing together at the top made every step worthwhile.
Moments like that remind us why we train all year—not just for the summit itself, but for the shared experience of getting there together.
Camp Life
After we each ate an entire pizza on Main Street’s Crave Pizza, the adventures didn't end at camp as everyone traded stories of the wildest adventures running ultras, hiking across the country, and biking from state to state. As darkness settled over the valley, the sky transformed into a blanket of stars. With almost no city lights nearby, the constellation stretched overhead in remarkable detail. We lingered long after the sun went down to enjoy the quiet that only the mountains can provide.
Why We Keep Coming Back
Weekends like this are why our Running Adventure Club exists. Yes, we come for the miles and the summits. But we stay for the friendships built one trail at a time, the shared challenges, and the memories that somehow become bigger every time we tell the stories.
Buena Vista gave us rushing waterfalls, alpine summits, restorative rivers, gorgeous sunsets, and star-filled skies—all packed into one incredible weekend.
Our legs may have been tired on the drive home, but our adventure tanks were completely full.
Until the next trail.
